Hypnotik Walk

I started this piece awhile back while I was doing my DW5 character. I thought I should continue it. Not sure if I like his pose but I'll see keep experimenting and see where I go from there. I will post the process of this painting from beginning to end. I am currently using Photoshop.

I created some logos for the A.I. Fight Club, a video game club for students at my school. Hopefully they like it.

Harban Male Update. I just brought this into Zbrush from Maya and worked on it a bit. Here's what I have so far.

2 min. sketch of outline to a 45 min speed painting. I'm so sloppy! I need to get out of the habit of working on little details first and instead focus on the whole. I know this already in the back of my head but it's something that will only come with practice.

The Ocquarian Female character body is pretty much finished. I need to work on the clothes. I will post the base mesh up in a bit.

Here's my entry for the Rift: Create a Colossus Contest at http://news.deviantart.com/article/151243/ . I chose the planar theme earth for my colossus charater. I completed this in one night without much thought. Personally, I hate my result. I would have spent more time on it but I need to take priority on school projects rather than this contest. For some reason, I had the urge to draw the character Vega from Street Fighter. I am about 2 hours in. I will continue to work on him and update very soon. This is done in Photoshop.

Here's another concept vehicle for my senior class project. I still want to tweak these set of vehicles but here's the most current version of them.

I'm currently still working on polishing these vehicle concepts for a class game project but here's what I have so for. My medium of choice is photoshop.

Here is the concept art I came up with for my Dominance War V character. Since the theme is to come up with a god that can dominate any other god, I that have the power to mind control would be the best choice for me. Having the power to control other god's beats any other power unless there's some sort of counter. So I came up with the name Hypnotik(heep-no-tik), the God of Hypnosis. I will elaborate more on his story in the near future.

First Attempts to Ink Wash Painting with Sumi Ink

Earlier this morning I attempted to paint with black sumi ink. I got stuck painting for a good 5-6 hours straight! Yes, I was in the zone. While working on these pieces, I noticed that it was almost felt like working with watercolors but a bit different. The water colors I work with usually come in a tube or hardened block with a thicker consistency than sumi ink. Sumi Ink was much more a liquid. So, diluting sumi ink with water was something I new I had to learn since it didn't have the same properties as the watercolors. It was tough to control. The brush I used came a from a sculpting kit that had an asian-looking brush close to what I've seen in pictures of people doing Sumi-e art. I think the brush was pretty cheap because a lot of the brush hairs had a lot of inconsistencies in length. Overall, I used it trying my best to make it work but I was a bit irritated because I would get weird and sloppy looking brush daubs. For the most part, I just want to say I had fun.

So why I decided to start ink wash painting was because of a school group project. The main goal for this project is to create a digital 3d scene and capture a style or movement. My teacher had a list of art movements/styles to pick from and so our team decided to go along with Sumi-E, an asian art style used by the Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and possibly others. I need to do lots more research on this. In the meantime, I will be posting up my progress on this project along with more ink wash painting in the future.

I was looking at some tutorial on how to do draw mecha characters. As you can see, I got a little lazy and started incorporating my natural habits when creating my art which is making random swirls everywhere!

YAY! Finally! My First Post!

Yes! I finally posted something after so many months of nothingness. I don't have any completely current finished works at the moment but I guess a couple of recent digital drawings will do for my first post. I will continue to constantly post often from now on. I will use this blog as a way to see how far I have progressed in my current work and to look back at past works.
